Who do we give it to? Buddy,Tony,Gadd,Vinnie,Weckl? The best drummer ever has never existed! But wait, maybe the best drummer does exist!
Saying that Buddy Rich in his prime could outplay anybody ever sounds as rediculous as saying that Buddy in his prime could vacuum the house better than anybody. It's drivel,OPINION IS NOT FACT!!!!!
We all have our favorite drummers that we listen to and we will even defend their honor if someone says something bad about a certain drummer, and that's ok! That's part of the fun.Every drummer past and present, professional to beginner has something to offer to the drumset. If we didn't,we wouldn't be playing the instrument.
It's a little something I call "STYLE"
OK!,the best drummer does exist! So the receipient of the HOD "Best Drummer Ever" Award goes to??
Answer: The drummer that inspires another drummer to want to play!!
You see what I'm saying??

While shooting pool the other night a drunken ex-Marine at the adjoining table informed me The Professor was the best drummer in the world. Of course I just agreed with him and went back to my game. Then he started singing along with Def Leppard on the jukebox. You can't argue with a sick mind.

Well, I don't think there will
be a "correct" answer to this
question, evidence the recent
post, which was related.
Part of the reason for that is
the fact that different drummers
have inspired different players;
not all of them having that same
inspiration and wherever and
whatever point they were in
their development.
Perhaps, we should have a "favor-
ite drummer", with "why" the
drummer is a favorite.
Vinnie would be one of my favor-
ites, for sure but I'd include
others in that listing.

I've lived to be
The very best
I want it all
No time for less
I've laid my plans
Now lay the chance
Here in my hands
Give me one moment in time
When I'm more than
I thought I could be
When all of my dreams
Are a heartbeat away
And the answers are all up to me
Give me one moment in time
When I'm racing with destiny
Then in that one moment in time
I will feel, I will feel eternity
You're a winner
For a lifetime
If you seize that
One moment in time
Make it shine

Hehe OFCOURSE not i'm not that good when it comes to expressing myself like you.
It's a tune called "One Moment in Time" by Whitney Houston, a motivational kinda song, sing-along anthem if you will, I used it for a college clip I had to make along with Aerosmith's "Dream On".

Oh, get out!
It sure applies, doesn't it?
Thanks, Bozzio.
Someone else said it but I
agree that every drummer has
it in them to bring something
new to the table. After all,
their experiences are dif-
ferent and we all know that
a certain spice can change
the entire recipe.
